Managed a team of 6 Program Managers with a portfolio of DoD and IC advanced development programs growing from $40M in 2008 to ~ $90M in 2012 in annual sales.

For several programs, I led teams to define system architectures and conduct risk reduction development and prototype demonstrations in the areas of marine engineering, fiber optic telecommunications and high speed processing. The work culminated in leading a 3-company 40-person team effort, which generated a winning proposal for a major new system development.

This program designed and deployed an advanced, entirely custom, cable handling system, including 50 tons of shock-qualified machinery, hydraulic motors and actuators and a real-time dynamic control system. The design, construction, software development, dynamic full-scale testing and installation were conducted by a GDAIS-led team of 6 subcontractors working in 8 different states.

1993-1997 Technical Manager and Systems Engineer for several projects in fiber optic telecommunications. These projects resulted in several patents for the team (e.g. U.S. 6,968,103). In addition, during this period I led the team that drafted the division’s Product Realization Process (PRP) and I consulted to other divisions of Lucent regarding PRP.1992-1993 Systems Integration and Test Manager, Responsibility included the full-scale field trials for an advanced technology project involving Active Noise Suppression. 1989-1992 Design Manager and Systems Engineer for the SURTASS Reduced Diameter Array (RDA) Program at Lucent - Bell Labs. 1988-1989 Group Supervisor – Processing Systems Development, Lucent - Bell Labs. 1984-1988 Supervisor, Systems Analysis Group, Mobile Sonar Department, AT&T- Bell Labs. Responsible for the systems engineering, analysis and field testing of the AN-BQR-15(9080) submarine towed array.1978-1984 Member of Technical Staff, Ocean Systems Center, Advanced Technology Department, Bell Laboratories.

Work involved celestial mechanics and scientific programming necessary to track and predict the positions of orbiting satellites.
