About Peter Gallagher
Peter started a career of public service with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research as a Technician /Draughtsman in the Geological Survey Depatrtment, specialising in Oil and Gas Exploration. After a short period an opportunity arose to move into the Industrial Safety service of the Department of Labour. Completing his training as a Inspector at Head office, he was subsequently assigned to the New Plymouth Field Office in a sole chage capacity. Fostering storong links with members of the NZ Defence Forces and NZ Police he recieved extensive training with both organisations to become the only Inspector to qualify as both a military and civilian Bomb technician. On reorganisation of the Department of Labour an opportunity became available to join the New Zealand Fire Service specializing in Investigation and Hazardous Materials. Recognised by local industry as an expert in many areas of safety, Peter is recognised internationally for his abilities in conducting Fire and Explosion Investigation.
