I oversee the research related activities within the School of Business and Law. This includes the development and implementation of strategies to support research related activities within the School, engaging with the other Associate Dean Research from the other Schools and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research concerning the implementation of university-wide research strategies and initiatives. I also work closely with the Higher Degree by Research Students coordinator and provide sign-off on applications, candidacy and other milestones.

Lakelands is a fully owned subsidiary of Swimming WA (a not for profit organisation that is the peak body for competitive swimming in Western Australia). Lakelands supports the SWA mission of "An essential part of West Australian life" by providing learn to swim opportunities in the northern corridor of the Mandurah region. Profits made from this operation are used to support swimming activities throughout the state. I chair the Lakelands Board having ended my time as a Board member of SWA.

I was Professor of Strategic Management at the Curtin Graduate School of Business. My role involved teaching on the MBA programme and I had some involvement in executive education. From 2015 I again took on the role of MBA Director. For the second half of 2017, I was the Acting Head of the CGSB until its disestablishment at the end of 2017. I was Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Management & Organization (Cambridge University Press), from 2011-2014 and much of my research time was taken up with this activity. From 2015 I stepped in to a Consulting Editor role through to the end of 2016.

Beyond this leadership role, I personally taught on both the undergraduate and graduate degrees in the area of strategic management to both domestic students and off-shore through the collaborative ventures in Hong Kong.
