Human Resources Business Partner
CurrentOriginates and leads HR practices and objectives in Milwaukee County’s Department of Health and Human Services Behavioral Health Division that provide a high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity goal attainment and development of a superior workforce. Human Resource initiatives include • Provides guidance to managers regarding employee coaching and discipline, improving performance or conduct, and measuring performance; interpret policies and educate managers on how to apply policies in employment-related matters.• Provides guidance and leadership to managers on the development of policies and work rules; ensure that application of rules is equitable and legal; coordinate and facilitate the rollout of new policies, rules and procedures to managers and staff. • Testifies at hearings before the Civil Service Commission.• Works with Corporation Counsel to respond to Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Equal Rights Division (ERD) claims.• Applies creative problem-solving to address business needs and issues.• Communicates strategy and initiatives to business unit leaders.• Makes sound decisions based on evaluation of available information.• Research and respond to employee concerns; investigates claims and allegations, documents all findings, analyze information gathered, recommend and implement resolution.• Train Hiring Authorities on best practice recruiting methods which includes creating a job evaluation questionnaire and writing effective competency based interview questions to hire the best candidates and reduces turnover.
