Profile bio

About Peter Glinsmann

I believe my best attribute is being able to view a new problem, come up with possible solutions, and then follow through with the best option. The main skill that has been needed consistently in all of my jobs is to troubleshoot new problems and then communicate that information to other people. This skill is what the focus on my personal growth has been in the recent years. My most recent employer was a company where English is not the first language for 90% of the employees and so proper communication was a necessity. My education is in Theatre and through this I found a second passion and career in panel building and automation. It started in high school when I volunteered with a couple friends and we helped rewire our auditorium along with repairing the fixtures. What appeals to me most about both of these fields is creating something from nothing and the importance of detail of each step.

Listed skills include Variable Frequency Drives, Sewing, Automation, Electricians, and 17 others.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control

Houston, Texas Area

I started as a panel builder but my responsibilities quickly grew to include shop manager, head purchaser, tech support, engineer, repair technician, and customer service. The one aspect I did not do was sales. My main responsibility at Electro-Mec was building control panels and making sure they shipped out on time. As purchaser I created all purchase orders and followed the constantly changing procedure for approval from the main branch on all purchases. I kept a log and copies of all purchase orders created organized by job and vendor. I commonly had meetings with vendors to discuss pricing and technical information on components and enclosures. By the end I was also helping with quoting which coincided with sourcing on new products. As shop manager I had a crew of up to 10 people who I supervise and educated on proper construction methods and safety. Electro-Mec is a UL508a panel shop and even the non-UL panels I would build to comply with UL standards if possible. I also scheduled the builds for the shop along with doing the construction of complicated panels myself. As the main contact for UL I had quarterly meetings and inspections which required proper documentation and procedures to discuss with the inspectors. I also did tech support for variable frequency drives along with general support on other industrial components including: contactors, overload relays, programmable logic controllers, manual motor starters, HMI, and any other components we sold. As the main repair center for LSIS components I was in charge of doing the repairs of variable frequency drives. This included diagnosing the problem, creating a list of needed components, and then repairing the drive myself. I learned a great amount of information doing this because I commonly had to replace the rectifier along with doing minor circuit board repairs. Many repairs required soldering to attach board components that were shipped separately.
