From September 2017 through August 2018, Peter was the lead task manager for performance testing of 143 pumps required to keep the City of New Orleans above water. The pumps varied in vintage from 1916 to 2015, in type from centrifugal solids-handling to axial propeller, and in size from 8 inches to 14 feet in diameter. Peter was directly involved in the installation of temporary measuring and testing equipment for flow, pressure, and level, test control and execution, analysis of results against performance curves, and final recommendations for each pump.Upon recruitment with SourceOne, Peter became the lead project engineer for the Veolia Efficiency Optimization System (VEOS) Metering Evaluation Project. VEOS is an integrated plant efficiency monitoring system that is being developed by Veolia North America to provide oversight of real-time actual and target efficiencies at 25 of the company’s district heating, chilled water, and co-generation facilities throughout the country. SourceOne was contracted to evaluate the existing metering and instrumentation at each of the facilities to determine the availability and accuracy of data necessary for calculating actual and target efficiencies on both the plant and equipment level. VEOS has been chosen to be presented at the International District Energy Association’s 106th Annual Conference and Trade Show in June and will be cooperatively presented by Veolia and SourceOne.Peter has also been the lead engineer in several other projects at SourceOne including a back-pressure turbine feasibility study for the University of New Hampshire, a Root Cause Analysis for a catastrophic failure of a steam boiler at a U.S. Naval Facility, a condensing hot water boiler failure analysis for Philadelphia Family Court, utility budget projections for the Durst Organization's 9 skyscrapers in Manhattan, and development of a Water Master Plan for Brown University as well as project management for implementation of savings measures.
