Peter was the Chief Executive of Dogs for Good from 1995 to 2022, a Fully Accredited member of Assistance Dogs International (ADI). Dogs for Good train dogs to help disabled people live life more independently. Peter worked with Dogs for Good for over twenty five years and was been responsible for growing the organisation to be one of the most respected assistance dog programmes in the world. Dogs for Good was the first assistance dog programme in the UK to train dogs for children with physical disabilities and the first to set up a significant autism assistance dog programme and an innovative Family Dog project). Recognising that 'dogs are good for us' the charity has ambitious plans to develop a wide range of innovative services that bring dogs and people together.Peter was President of Assistance Dogs International (ADI) from 2007 - 2012 and is currently Vice Chair. ADI is the body responsible for setting standards and accrediting the international assistance dog industry which currently has over 190 member/candidate programmes worldwide. Peter was a founder member of Assistance Dogs Europe (ADEu), was President of ADEu from 2002-2007. Peter is a past-Chair of AD(UK), a member of the BSI Shadow Committee for CEN TC452 on assistance dogs, and Convenor of WG4 of CEN TC452 - Training and Assessment. Peter has given lectures and presentations on assistance and therapy dog issues across the world.Peter was a founder member and director of Animal Assisted Intervention International (AAII), set up in 2013 to develop standards for AAI work worldwide.Prior to joining Dogs for Good, Peter worked in several not-for-profit sectors including the environment, the arts and community business development. Peter has an BA(Hons) in Government from the University of Central England (now Birmingham City University) and an MBA (Masters in Business Administration) from Cranfield School of Management.
