I have twenty years of experience at the British Medical Association in a variety of roles. I am currently Director of an area which comprises two main teams - one running the representation of all major medically qualified groups at a national level and the other looking after negotiations of all pay and contract matters. As part of the Senior Leadership team at the BMA, I help develop overall strategy for the organisation. I am also responsible for stakeholder management with Government, other trade unions, and key organisations such as NHS Employers. I am experienced in dealing with both organisation-wide matters and high level medico-politics including representing doctors to senior civil servants and Ministers. In previous roles at the BMA, I have worked as Interim Director of Policy and oversaw a restructure of the directorate involving c. 100 people. It was also in this role that I played a leading part in the Association's work in response to the Covid pandemic. More recently, I have taken a lead role in the BMA's industrial action activity. Prior to these recent roles, I had a number of management positions including: Head of Pay and Contracts; Head of Employed Doctors and Secretary to the Consultants Committee. Before I joined the BMA, I worked for Ford Motor Company working in logistics. My last role at Ford was as a project manager.
