About Peter H.
I develop software products for users looking for solutions. I embrace and am passionate about all aspects of software development. I have been part of a number of great teams that created ACID, Vegas Pro, Sound Forge for Windows and Mac, and other products my work was used. These are products that our users love (and sometimes love to hate!) These products are my passion and pride. I take great satisfaction that tens of thousands of creative people use software that I was a part of every day. My approach is solid architecture; test as you code; and designs that are reusable and can sustain the constant refactoring that is part of the software development process. A software engineer reads code more often than writing it. I was fortunate to have many talented mentors, teachers, and artists to collaborate and learn with. During my nearly 20 years at Sonic Foundry and Sony Creative Software, I advanced my skills and understanding of the domains, art, and process of software development. Supporting audio hardware was where started, but I grew into a problem solver across multiple areas. I never stopped learning and evaluating. I learned many technical skills along the way. I worked with some of the smartest people. People that I could collaborate with and solve our user's problems in the best way. I participated in the industry at large as part of Sonic Foundry to advance both my understanding and help solve the problems of the end user through standards. Over the last half decade I embraced and evangelized being agile to all at SCS. It is part of the start up mentality and builds both team and customer. The best stakeholder I ever worked with was the end user. I am a developer of software. I am an engineer of product solutions.

Senior Software Engineer
Sonic Foundry acquired HallSound Systems and related technologies. Sonic and I were a perfect fit. I architected, designed, and developed the core audio engine for the groundbreaking ACID. This work was a key part of the Vegas Pro Audio and Vegas Video products. I was the lead developer on the audio FX and MIDI architecture and design that moved ACID toward a full Digital Audio Workstation feature set. I represented Sonic at industry events, contributing to the Audio Roundtable meetings held at NAMM yearly.

Hallsound Systems
HallSound Systems produced a line of Windows NT device drivers for audio and video hardware. These drivers supported the Intel, DEC Alpha, and IBM Power PC versions of Windows NT. The first product released was the Turtle Beach Multisound. This was the first professional audio device to be supported on Windows NT. It was unique also in that it provided the first full duplex audio solution for the platform. HallSound produced Window NT drivers for many audio devices as products and as a consultant. HallSound was working with video capture device hardware at the time it was acquired by Sonic Foundry.

Lead Software Engineer
Started my engineering career at Lorain Products as a co-op in 1989. I accepted a position as an embedded software developer for the groups SMART monitoring system. I designed, implemented, and programmed analog and digital component cards as expansions for the core system. The system was based on a Motorola 68000 architecture.I introduced and led a team developing a Windows based remote monitoring solution - Partner for Windows - which was a graphical UI based replacement for the existing DOS application.
