ABOUT PETER HADDADPeter Haddad is a highly experienced and credentialed Senior Executive who consults to businesses in the defence industry sector.From 2005 – 2012, Peter was engaged by the Victoria Government as its strategic advisor on defence industries responsible for developing strategies and actions to grow and sustain defence industry in the State. He was responsible for the operation of the Defence Industry Unit, within the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development, which is a specialist team that manages and delivers initiatives designed to support defence industry.To guide policy development and lead on strategic projects Peter’s unit established the Victorian Defence Industry Advisory Council in 2007. The Council provides the Government with high level advice on current defence industry issues. In 2005, Peter was engaged by the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games Corporation to manage the planning and delivery of logistic support to the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. This included responsibility for establishing arrangements for the security screening of all deliveries to Games venues. He was also appointed as the Deputy Major of the Athlete’s Village where he was responsible for the oversight of Village administration and security.Peter had a long and distinguished career in the Australian Army career that spanned 38 years in the Australian Army where he specialised in logistics and equipment acquisition. He retired from the Army in January 2005 at the rank of Major General.Peter currently sits on a number of the boards and committees including the Defence Council Victoria, the Victorian Veterans Council and the School Advisory Committee for the RMIT School of Business, Information Systems and Logistics.

    Peter’s career spanned nearly four decades in the Australian Army where he commenced as a logistics officer and retired in January 2005 at the rank of Major General. During the early stages of Peter’s military career he served in South Vietnam and in a range of Army logistics units in Victoria and New South Wales. In the middle part of his career he served in Army Headquarters in Canberra, with the US Army at Fort Lee Virginia and commanded the Defence National Storage and Distribution Centre at Moorebank New South Wales.As a senior officer he held policy and management positions at Defence Headquarters in Canberra and commanded Support Command where he had responsibility for the total logistic support to all Army, Navy and Air Force units. Peters final military appointment was Commander, Joint Logistics Command located in Melbourne. In this position he was responsible for supporting all Australian Defence Force operations in Timor, Bougainville, Afghanistan, Iraq and the Solomon Islands. He was also responsible for management of the Defence logistics network and for the procurement of a range of products including ammunition, guided weapons, military clothing, personal equipment and medical supplies.
