Experienced chartered accountant, compliance officer, regulator and former auditor, with over 35 years' experience in capital markets, asset management, wealth management and investment banking. I have run my own consultancy business since 2006, working with banks, wealth managers, asset managers, brokers and hedge fund managers in developing training programmes and managing their regulatory, reputational and governance issues. I also get involved in expert witness work, board-level assessments of senior management, governance reviews and pre-visit (PRA/FCA) reviews, as well as reviews of firms' compliance departments, policies and procedures and monitoring plans. In 2011, I assumed a NED role with a UK-based bank for five years and was Chair of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee. In January 2019, I assumed a similar role with another UK bank and was subsequently appointed as Interim Chairman and then Deputy Chairman. Since January 2017, I have devoted most of my time to being Group Head of GRC Training for CCL Academy, an amazing group of people and a specialist provider of financial crime, governance, risk and compliance training to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Specialties: Governance, risk and compliance training and advice in all areas of investment banking, asset management, capital markets and certain retail areas; pre-visit reviews of conduct, governance, risk and liquidity; reviews of Compliance functions, following the work on BS8453. I also specialise in areas of financial crime such as AML, ABC and market abuse. NED roles for UK or overseas financial institutions, with a bias towards Risk, Compliance and Audit responsibilities.
