In my role as Deputy Chief Technology Officer at Health Data Research UK (HDR UK), the UK's national institute for health data science, I am focused on the technology to unlock the potential of health data research for better patient outcomes. I help drive forward the strategy and development of technology services and infrastructure to enable the provision of consistent and meaningful research access to health data. This includes the Health Data Research Gateway, which accelerates the discovery and access request management enhancing the ethical, secure, and transparent use of health datasets and other assets. I have a particular focus on developing HDRUKs projects and partnerships that utilise and/or enhance our core technology products. This includes our key partnerships with ELIXIR, Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) and HDR UKs research driver programmes.Previously, I led the Genome Analysis team at EMBL-European Bioinformatics Institute on large collaborative research data projects, such as the European Nucleotide Archive, Ensembl Genomes Browser, and COVID-19 Data Portal. I previously held research positions at University College London and Oxford University working on genomics and transcriptome evolution.
