Pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science at Lancaster University, I've developed a strong foundation in ecological principles, environmental management, and conservation. Having completed my second year with a keen interest in aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity, I am excited to have recently started a placement as an Assistant Environmental Consultant with Five Rivers.In my role at Five Rivers, I am gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of environmental consultancy. My responsibilities include conducting invertebrate and fish surveys, which allow me to deepen my understanding of aquatic species and their habitats. Additionally, I am involved in the design and implementation of river restoration projects amongst others, where I am learning valuable skills in ecological design, project management, and environmental engineering. These experiences are honing my abilities in fieldwork, data analysis, and the practical application of environmental science to real-world challenges.Outside of my academic and professional pursuits, I am passionate about sustainability and environmental education. I am always eager to expand my knowledge and skills, particularly in areas related to habitat restoration, biodiversity conservation, and ecological impact assessment. My strong analytical skills, coupled with a proactive and detail-oriented approach, make me well-equipped to contribute effectively to environmental projects.I am committed to pursuing a career where I can make a meaningful impact on environmental conservation and sustainability, and I look forward to applying the skills and knowledge gained during my placement and studies to future challenges in the field.My most notable piece of work is my Extended Project Qualification for which I wrote a report with the title: Do the positive environmental impacts of COVID-19 outweigh the negative consequences in the UK since 23rd March 2020? I researched 4 key areas affected: Waste, Energy, Transport and Nature and explained how they are interrelated.
