Associate Director, Architect And Principal Designer
CurrentMy role at Chapman Taylor is as part of the Technical Team. I am also the Quality Manager for the QMS. I undertake some Detail design work and do technical reviews and surgeries on projects. I also lead the Principal Designer Service that Chapman Taylor are offering and am embedding the role into design teams where we have the PD role as well as being Lead Architect. I also undertake Clients CDM duties on many of the projects where we are the Principal Designer. My experience as an Architect, with a particular interest in technical aspects, fits nicely with the understanding required in the Principal Designer role and I am disseminating the knowledge within Chapman Taylor by presenting a rolling series of CPDs on Health Safety and Fire issues.Currently I am working on the New Building Safety Regime and what we need to do to address the requirements. This involves Fire and general H&S knowledge across the business, competencies and an approach to collating the Golden Thread of information. I have recently completed a Diploma in Construction Fire Safety and risk management recognised by the Institute of Fire Engineers. Recently completed the new RIBA Principal Designer course covering the Building Safety Act requirements, with a view to Chapman Taylor providing this service. I have now been accepted onto the RIBA Principal Designer Register for both CDM and Building Regulations including the HRB registration and so am able to demonstrate competence to offer the role
