I accepted a new challenge in a family-owned third generation company active in the automobile and textile industry. The main objective was to bring the financial organization and internal reporting to benchmark standards. I introduced the monthly reporting, including analytical reporting, standard cost accounting and various balance sheet reports. In addition, I became president of the needlefelt business unit and was as such one of the key players in the 2004 acquisition of the Baisieux plant located in France (first foreign acquisition of the group). Consequently, I became Business Unit Manager of Sommer Needlepunch from 2007 till 2009. Due to a new shareholder’s agreement beginning 2010, I returned to my position as CFO. We implemented a fully integrated ERP system – Microsoft Dynamics - in both the French and Belgian site.

Responsible for the financial management of the four aOP affiliates, located in Belgium, Germany, France and Spain. Major tasks included the contact with different stakeholders (banks, auditors – internal and external - tax authorities and shareholders), the implementation of a management reporting system and the maintenance of the different legal files. I was also part of the strategic committee and the steering committee of the SAP implementation. I reported directly to the CEO, was secretary of the Shareholders Board meeting (aOP was a 50 – 50 Joint venture between Cargill Corp.& Vandemoortele NV) and supervised 15 direct reports in Belgium and abroad.

Erembodegem

Responsible for the US GAAP and local accounts, including statutory requirements in various countries of Eastern-Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Russia), Middle-East (Dubai, Saudi-Arabia) and Africa (Kenya, Ivory Coast and South-africa). This included as well the recruitment and training of the different accountants and analysis of the monthly results, providing comments to the different business units and the European headquarters. Direct supervision over 3 local accountants, indirect over 9 accountants abroad.

Responsible for the financial, administrative and HR management of the newly created company Sola Optical Belgium and the acquired family company Demuynck Optics. Main tasks included the organization of the accounting department, selection and implementation of a new accounting software, preparation of the monthly reporting according to US GAAP rules, set up of a cost accounting and inventory control system, compliance with statutory requirements (annual accounts, tax declarations, etc.). Furthermore I was the main contact for banks and auditors and reported to the European CFO and local general manager.

Responsible for the financial analysis of three Wrangler affiliates (UK, Benelux and France). This included as well the monthly reports as the forecasts, budgets and year-end close.In addition, I served as referee between production planning and inventory control for Wrangler Europe. Also part of various ad hoc projects in close relation with the production sites (implementation of cost accounting, transfer pricing, analysis of the manufacturing variances).

Various financial and operational audits throughout Europe- North-Africa (France, Spain, Tunisia, Germany, Ireland, UK, Poland) for the different divisions of VF Europe (Wrangler, Lee, Lou, Variance). Financial audits mainly focused on the improvement of the internal control procedures, operational audits mainly focused on the improvement of processes such as stock control, production efficiencies, etc.
