Port Harcourt Nigeria

CEO/MD Head of Operations and Maintenance, INDORAMA Eleme Petrochemical limited, OIPL is a JV between OIS Nigeria Limited and INDORAMA Group. OIPL consists of an import/export terminal, which has storage facilities, Ship loading equipment and involved in the selling and transportation of Urea fertiliser. My functional responsibility as Head of Operations and Maintenance, core responsibility to assure the technical performance of the facility to safely meet loading and export objectives, ensuring overall equipment availability and reliability to operate and a responsibility to grow the business. This includes a full maintenance function and all process sections for the transport, storage and exporting of Urea Fertiliser and other petrochemical materials. In order to ensure this process, I manage a dedicated and multidisciplinary team. Managed the installation and commissioning of transfer Conveyors, Air Handling equipment, Truck unloading stations, Portal Scraper Reclaimers, Quay Conveyors and Ship Loaders One thousand ton per hour capacity. During the construction of the highly advanced terminal ($160,000,000) my responsibility included, design review, construction management, contract negotiation, maritime activities including wreck removal dredging of approaches and berth pockets, liaison with neighbouring companies, ship scheduling and pilotage including tugs and clearing duties. Project Manager assisting and directing the Main Contractor in the erecting and installing of the material handling equipment (MHE) Contract approval, and preparing Requests for quotations and Proposals (RFQ’s RFP’s).

Calabar Nigeria

Responsible for the decommissioning, dismantling and demolishment of a redundant Cement Plant and Grinding station in Calabar, Cross Rivers State, Nigeria. The Plant consist of plant, equipment, Steel Portal frame buildings, Electrical cables, switchgear, transformers and generators, office buildings, workshops complete with overhead cranes and four in number steel reinforced concrete silo’s 40 metres in height and 10 metres diameter. To safely and efficiently remove all equipment and scrap to leave the site cleared for future development. To comply with the Federal government of Nigeria legislation and dispose of all hazardous materials including Asbestos. Review of Technical and Commercial Proposals, awarding of contracts.Other projects included soil erosion countermeasures, the manufacture of Gabions using the concrete rubble, secure the land erosion occurring and to design and build a safe berth and reconstruct a jetty for import/export of cementious products. Developed scope of works (SOW) and wrote, reviewed and awarded all sub-contracts. Also advised and assisted in the scheduling and planning of a 35 Km relief road, liaising with host communities.

Port Harcourt Nigeria

Responsible for the technical performance of Port Facility complete with packing plant & Batching plant, to safely meet production and operational objectives, ensuring overall plant availability and reliability to operate and ensuring compliance to the International Ship and Port Security (ISPS) code. The role included but was not limited to: maintenance functions of all plant and equipment, process operations, port facilities, scheduling of vessels, berthing of the vessels and the unloading of cargo from ocean-going vessels, conveying cement into store, storing, transporting, packing and conveying cement bags onto customer trucks. In order to ensure the process, I manage a dedicated and multidisciplinary team of workers. An experienced leader and qualified engineer with sound knowledge and proven practice in Business Development in developing countries as well as mechanical and electrical engineering, with knowledge of marine terminals, generators, civil works and facilities, plus sea-going experience. Working knowledge of PRINCE2 Project Management, Microsoft Project and Oracle Primavera software. Feasibility study completed for project managing the construction of new jetty 280 metres long plus warehousing and office accommodation a $250 million CAPEX.Health and Safety responsibility for creating safe and secure working conditions for the operation, staff and the Port facility. Implementation, improvement and revision of the H&S management system, lead the H&S Management Team.Ensure that all employees and contractors follow all safety rules on the site using dedicated Health and Safety DepartmentFinding new Business opportunities. Responsible for industrial performance, monitored with KPIs.by setting targets for industrial performance. Responsible for training and development of my Department to ensure that technical and production performance is achieved at optimum cost and that key managers develop a good business sense when taking operational decisions.
