The role included overview of the design… Show more Stanton Dahl Architects (SDA) is a medium size firm specializing in the provision of a full range of architectural services for projects in the educational, aged care, affordable housing and automotive segments encompassing concept design through to project delivery. In this second phase term at SDA I was positioned as the education segment deputy lead assisting in the day to day management of some 15 staff chiefly involved in education related projects. The role included overview of the design and management of the sector projects and reached beyond to staff management, sector budgeting and project output throughout all phases of delivery from concept / master-planning, through to contract documentation and administration. Some major projects in which I was involved included Morling College tertiary theological institute (concept stage only, budget, $20 million AUD); St. Joseph’s College, Lochinvar Multipurpose hall, TSC kitchen, food tech classroom, cafeteria and associated facilities (budget, $5.5 million maintained from contract signing) and the design review and associated input on various multi-unit housing projects (each between 10 and 150 units) for the Department of Housing and various private clients. Musanada Building Services - Adec Future Schools Program

Musanada Building Services is an Abu Dhabi Government agency charged with the provision of support services for government funded projects and AECOM partnered Musanada in this quest. I was the design manager for the Abu Dhabi Education Council’s Phase IV package of ‘Future Schools’; an extensive program of delivery of high quality schools across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi which sought to bring ‘world’s best practice’ to the education of local clientele. This specific program consisted of eight… Show more Musanada Building Services is an Abu Dhabi Government agency charged with the provision of support services for government funded projects and AECOM partnered Musanada in this quest. I was the design manager for the Abu Dhabi Education Council’s Phase IV package of ‘Future Schools’; an extensive program of delivery of high quality schools across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi which sought to bring ‘world’s best practice’ to the education of local clientele. This specific program consisted of eight new schools built in the Al Ain and Abu Dhabi areas during 2013 – 2014 (five of these were under my direct tutelage). High profile locally based European design teams were fully engaged in the program and part of my tenure involved assisting ADEC in the guidance of the design process towards the successful realization of the client brief; the production of high quality tender documentation and the resolution of contractor queries. Louvre Abu Dhabi, Saadiyat Island

The Saadiyat Island Cultural Precinct is an ambitious project located in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Precinct will ultimately include several Iconic Museums and Hotels as well as parklands, infrastructure and enabling works to develop the island into a world class tourist destination. Designed by Architect Jean Nouvel of France, the Louvre is the first permanent museum to be affiliated with the Parisian Louvre outside of France. The construction of the Louvre includes the largest spanning… Show more The Saadiyat Island Cultural Precinct is an ambitious project located in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Precinct will ultimately include several Iconic Museums and Hotels as well as parklands, infrastructure and enabling works to develop the island into a world class tourist destination. Designed by Architect Jean Nouvel of France, the Louvre is the first permanent museum to be affiliated with the Parisian Louvre outside of France. The construction of the Louvre includes the largest spanning Steel Dome structure ever undertaken in the world (120m). The highly complex Concrete structure below the Dome has been designed to emulate the feel of a traditional Arabic souk. As Design Manager (hard) on this project, I was central to the delivery of 100% Construction Documentation inclusive of several separately tendered packages. This involved close day to day liaison with the Ateliers Jean Nouvel team as well the team from Buro Happold who provided design input and documentation for all matters pertaining to the engineering disciplines. This immense mass transit infrastructure project (metro) commenced the planning phase in 2006 and was the largest undertaking of this nature in the world at the time. The Redline covers 52 km in total and is serviced by 29 stations; 24 elevated and 4 under-ground. The stations themselves occur at a frequency of roughly 1 per 1.5 km and embody an iconic form with a roof shape inspired by the pearl diving heritage of the UAE. The project was constructed by a consortium of Japanese and Turkish engineers and included industrial heavyweights such as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Obayashi and Kajima amongst others (DURL consortium). WS Atkins and Partners were contracted by the client (DURL) to provide full design and construction supervision services for this project and as lead site architect on the project, I was charged with leading the system wide architectural design implementation process during the construction phase. A considerable component of this effort comprised the maintenance of a pivotal position in the interface with the multitudinous groups that comprised the JV team - Project Engineer (Systra Parsons, RTA representative).
