Since October of 2012, I have written the Technovation column on Forbes.com. I write about ideas at the intersection between innovation and information technology. I write about people who are shaping the technology landscape, CIOs who have added additional responsibilities (a phenomenon I refer to as the "CIO-plus"), and those who have risen above that role to become COOs and CEOs.

Every year, the CIO 100 Awards honor 100 companies that demonstrate excellence and achievement in IT. Since 2012, I have been a judge of the CIO 100 Awards.

Since 2010, I've been a regular contributor to CIO Insight and CIOInsight.com, including cover stories and a webinar series tied to my book World Class IT. I've written over 70 pieces for CIO Insight in all.

I founded the Forbes CIO Summit series, setting the agendas, recruiting speakers, helping develop the audience and sponsors, and leading all aspects of the events on stage. Our events catered to CIOs of companies with $1 billion in revenue, and they also included heads of state, venture capitalists, executive recruiters, and CEOs of technology companies.

The Fisher-Hopper Prize is sometimes referred to as the Nobel Prize for CIOs. The prize is given out by the The University of California Berkeley's Haas School's Fisher CIO Leadership Program. I was one of the judges who both nominated and judged would be winners of the prize.

Each year, Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders awards program honors the best and brightest IT executives. I was a judge for the award.

Luminant was formed when Potomac Partners (a strategy firm founded by several ex-McKinsey partners for which I worked) was combined with seven other firms under the direction of Michael Jordan (the former CEO of CBS and Westinghouse). The firm went public in September of 1999. I was the youngest member of the management team among the roughly 1,000 employees of the firm.

Integral, Inc. was a firm co-founded by former Harvard Business School Dean, Kim Clark, and focused on innovation strategy and management. It was during my time with Integral that I first began consulting to Chief Information Officers in the U.S. and abroad.
