A Trustee of Torfaen Citizens Advice must maintain an awareness of the business of Torfaen Citizens Advice. Membership of the Citizens Advice Trustee Board involves the following collectively with fellow Trustees:Shaping strategy, setting policy, defining goals, setting targets, evaluating performance and giving advice to Citizens Advice Torfaen.Acting as employer for paid staff.Managing the finances of Citizens Advice Torfaen.Ensuring Citizens Advice Torfaen complies with the law.Responsibility for te upkeep of Citizens Advice Torfaen premises, insurance and equipment.Making collective strategic decisions for the benefit of Torfaen Citizens Advice and its continued successful operation.

Fourteen Locks Canal Centre, Newport.

Working with partners, including local authorities and the Canal & River Trust, to co-ordinate the many volunteers who give their time carrying out the various roles required to restore and bring back to life this 200 year old waterway, which greatly contributed to kickstarting the industrial revolution in these valleys, as a focus for education and leisure. The 'Mon & Brec' has been named the most visited tourist attraction in the national park.

I work within the community to explain the work of Oxfam worldwide and to understand the extent of poverty throughout the world. I meet people to talk about the facets of the work of Oxfam UK.

Focused on the reorganisation and redevelopment of schools, taking account of physical condition, viability and education in the Welsh language for the Welsh Government. The 21st Century Schools & Education Capital programme is a flagship programme of the Welsh Government and is the source of funding for building and refurbishing schools in Wales. Funding is shared between the Welsh Government and local authorities and I provided advice to local authorities on funding and the preparation of business cases to support their applications. I was also one of the policy heads within Welsh Government who assess the content of the business cases before approval to proceed with the project is given.

A number of roles within Welsh Government including the working on a review into Careers Wales and within the Emergencies Branch/Emergencies Co-ordination Centre (Wales) (ECC(W)).

An inward investment expert within the highly successful International team of WDA, a universally acknowledged and world leading economic development organisation. Over a period of 15 years I specialised in encouraging investment into Wales, particularly from overseas companies in the automotive, aerospace and life science sectors and other advanced manufacturing disciplines. During this period Wales was regularly achieving 10%-15% per annum by value of all inward investment into the UK.

Cwmbran

Career started as a Trainee Manager before working in a number of management roles throughout Wales. I ended my employment as the District Manager of the Society in Cwmbran, South Wales. Branch working meant dealing with all facets of building society activity including responsibility for individual customer's savings and investment account, personal mortgage management including my personal authority to approve up to £100,000 (in 1989), sales & marketing, relationship building and branch security.
