A broadly experienced and results-oriented senior executive, following a career as in-house legal counsel. With a background in upstream oil & gas, mining, construction and energy, both in Australia and overseas, I have more recently focused on downstream businesses. I am highly numerate and strategic, seeing patterns and possibilities in numerical information and have a habit of presenting material in spreadsheets, tables and charts. While having a reputation for being thorough and on top of the detail, I translate complex principles and uncertainty into digestible and pragmatic business-focused advice and decisions. While working in the mining industry at Newmont, I developed a particular interest in crisis management. It reinforced the the need to evaluate and manage risk through a broad lens and I have delivered a number of seminars on this subject. I have been a non-executive director of several private, public and not-for-profit companies over a period of 20 years. While allowing management to do its job, I take a hands-on approach and a keen interest in developing a positive workplace culture based on trust, transparency, leading by example and board visibility. Management tells me that I am a supportive and helpful director. My interests are cycling, tennis, collecting antiques and cooking, plus a nerdy interest in wine.
