To offer advice and report on the current health and safety responsibilities within a multi- disciplined organisation. Worksite locations include Recycling and Waste Facilities, Parks Depots, Schools, Residential Homes and Offices etc.Responsibilities and duties include the following:Advising on all statutory requirements, codes of practice, policies and guidance notes etc.Promoting safe systems of work and to pursue the maintenance of a safe working environmentPreparing health and safety arrangements, policies, procedures and emergency plans.Conducting incident investigations, safety audits, site visits, workplace risk assessments etc.Developing and delivering health and safety training programmes that includes H&S Management, Fire Safety and Evacuation, Risk Assessment, Manual Handling and Asbestos Management.The collection, collate and interpret accident / incident data and prepare statistical reports for analysisLiaison as necessary with the appropriate external agencies e.g. HSE, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Occupational Health etc.To carry out safety inspections within Schools, Manufacturing and Construction Sites, Motor Vehicle Garages, Offices etc.To provide information and raise awareness on healthy lifestyle issues e.g. healthy eating, physical activity, smoking cessation etc.

To assist the council and emergency services in dealing with resilience issues (out of hours) such as environmental health issues, fires, gas leaks, unsafe buildings, flooding and business continuity.This involves liaising with the Scottish Government, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, NHS Scotland including Scottish Ambulance Services, SEPA and various council services and ALEOs such as Community Safety Glasgow, Building Control, Roads, Social Work etc.
