Enterprise Agile Coach / Agile Referent
Addlestone, Surrey
My role as Agile Referent was to transform engineering at Thales with Agile to achieve higher productivity, faster delivery, better quality and an improved customer experience.Thales UK is a broad organisation with over 6,500 employees over 12 main development sites. I started by creating an Agile community of practice across the UK to identify good practice and to drive transformation locally. I then worked collaboratively with this team and stakeholders to produce and gain approval for a clear engineering roadmap to transform product development. With approval and budget I implemented a training plan to develop Agile capability throughout the organisation initially at the team level but progressively through the rest of the departments. As part of this plan I provided training, briefings, lunch and learns, guides, tools, coaching, mentoring and governance as required for products and projects. To demonstrate success and scale introduction I worked in multiple functions and domains including safety-critical and security-critical applications.I am also a founder member of the world-wide Thales Agile & Lean community of practice seeking to broaden the adoption of Agile within the whole organisation. In addition to Agile software, firmware and hardware development I worked actively with DevOps, IT, project management, finance, HR, legal, bids and QA in working (slowly) towards an Agile organisational ideal.
