While at Adarga I’ve worked alongside highly skilled engineers and data scientists to help produce some really interesting features around NLP. I’ve worked on improving data ingestion, data governance (schema reg, data discovery etc), productionising nlp features, System Auditing, Auth and Text to Geo resolution. During all these developments I’ve played a key part in architecting the solutions and have especially been recognised as the go to person for all things graph. I’ve also spent a considerable amount of time aiding the improvement of standards in DS and have enjoyed gaining experience working closely with the DS Team.

As a Senior Engineer in the R&D team at Volo commerce alongside Data Scientists, a Data Architect and Solution Architect to drive decisions for producing automated listings cross marketplaces. This involved building a knowledge graph and using the knowledge graph to generate a dsl which would then be used to map data to the appropriate format. I was responsible for the team creating the knowledge graph, where we used some basic nlp techniques and I was personally responsible for the access and modeling. I was also personally responsible for the creation of the dsl and developing the library that used the dsl to process the data.

During my time at Open GI I worked on various different projects, the most notable were the latest version of their ecommerce platform and the inhouse data warehouse solution for BI. On other projects I was given a technical lead role where I would work with the BA to develop the solutions and lead a team of junior developers.

I worked on 2 main projects at Bibby Scientific. The first was an Android app used on a spectrophotometer and the second was a Windows CE app which was initially outsourced to an overseas company but didn’t meet requirements and required a complete refactor. This was an opportunity for me to develop at a very low level and build systems directly on the hardware. There was a stronger emphasis on performance here which was of particular interest at the time.
