In this role, I worked as a legal and research counsel to the 17 Coroners throughout New Zealand, including the Chief Coroner, Judge Deborah Marshall.Specifically, this entailed drafting judgments for the Coroners, conducting research and providing legal opinions, and appearing in inquests as counsel assisting the Coroner.Highlights of my time in this role include appearances as sole counsel assisting the Coroner in inquests, appearing as junior counsel to Simon Mount QC in one of the most prominent coronial cases of the last 10 years, and my legal opinions being cited throughout the High Court and Court of Appeal in a high profile criminal case.
