I have 30 years of experience in the publishing industry, primarily within the field of STEM journal manuscript editing. For nearly 20 years, I held the position of Senior Copyediting Coordinator at Sheridan Journal Services (SJS) in Waterbury, Vermont, comanaging the journal copyediting services for several scientific and medical societies—including the American Diabetes Association, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the National Academy of Sciences—and developing editorial and technical style guides for several of these institutions. I joined the JAMA Network in February 2021, where I am currently a Freelance Manuscript Editing Coordinator.As a freelance copyeditor from 2003 to 2021, I edited hundreds of papers for several different medical journals, including Cancer, Cancer Cytopathology, Clinical Liver Disease, Hepatology, Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, and the Journal of Clinical Ultrasound. I obtained my BELS (Board of Editors in the Life Sciences) certification in 2012 and have served on the Advisory Boards for the 11th Edition of the AMA Manual of Style, the 17th Edition of the Chicago Manual of Style, and the 9th Edition of The CSE (Council of Science Editors) Manual. I am an active member of CSE and am a frequent speaker at the CSE Annual Meeting, particularly in my role as Coordinator of the Short Course for Manuscript Editors (since 2013). I am a perennial member of the CSE Program Committee and was Co-Chair of the first-ever CSE Virtual Annual Meeting in 2020. I currently serve on the CSE DEIA Committee and the CSE Board of Directors (as Secretary [2023-2025]).
