Responsible for the profit and loss for the KPIT AUTOSAR & In-Vehicle Networks business. The department had approx. 400 employees and a revenue of over 20 million USD. The products are used in all kinds of systems and functions ranging from Infotainment ECUs with connectivity, navigation, information and OTA and ADAS systems with camera and radar functions to powertrain systems or door modules.In addition to the solid technical background I now know how to plan and create business in a global market, I know how to drive large globally distributed development teams, I know how to plan and execute mergers and acquisitions, I have gained a great understanding of India and I have gained an excellent understanding in communication and how to build teams. This software product strategy included an analysis of why this product is beneficial for NEC and for the customers, business model, license model, development strategy (in-house or outsource), quality assurance policy, cooperation partners (community/eco system building), sales strategy, marketing, logistics and legal contracts. This all with the aim to create a software business on a global scale.Above described strategy was successfully implemented and by that the first software product within NEC Electronics world wide.ManagementResponsible for building up and managing the software team. Starting with 2 people in Düsseldorf and after 3 years having 5 people in Düsseldorf, 5 people in Tokio and approx. 15 people at the out-sourcing partner in India. Work included building a global software organization including process definition, setting up IT-Infrastructure and defining the reporting structures. This resulted in the establishment of the first group within NEC Electronics world wide that executes projects on a global basis.Field Application Engineer As a Field Application Engineer my task was to accompany our sales team during customer visits to create business. My role was to understand the customer technical need and propose the right solution from NEC to meet or exceed the customer need. This required a sound technical understanding combined with good presentation skills and ability to build customer relationships. A TCU is a device that handles the communication between the vehicle and the outer world including functionalities like: Emergency call, Information call and Remote car diagnostics. Following communication technologies were used: mobile phone voice, mobile phone SMS and in-vehicle networks (MOST and CAN).
