Current**Program/ Project Manager/ Engineer; (2011 - Present) D-Star/ U.S. Army-TARDEC; USHFE Engine System Technology Development SBIR; $1.1M:- Successfully developed and tested a small heavy fuel engine system for use as part of a range extender/ auxiliary power unit for small tactical unmanned ground vehicles and robotics systems.- Engine power output and specific fuel consumption surpassed system requirements by 20 and 25 percent respectively.- Directed the specification development, system design, fabrication and successful commissioning of a prototype electronic engine control unit (EECU) using subcontract electrical engineering, circuit board design and fabrication services.- Managed and tracked program schedule, spending and manpower.- Designed, fabricated and commissioned a modified engine dynamometer test system.- Supervised and performed the design, fabrication and testing of a heavy fuel modified engine, engine components and subsystems.- Supervised and performed all reporting and review activities while also serving as company’s primary point of contact.**Program/ Project Manager/ Engineer; (2009 - 2011) D-Star/ U.S. Army-ARL; VSHFE Engine/ Hybrid System Technology Development SBIR; $850K:- Successfully developed and tested a 1.6 hp heavy fuel engine and hybrid propulsion system for use on small unmanned aircraft.- Responsible for creating technology development plans, program schedules and coordinating manpower, managing and tracking program spending and technical reporting.- Lead design meetings and reviews, provided system design improvements based on test results.- Supervised and performed the design, fabrication, and integration of engine/system components and test fixtures.- Performed test planning and created engine/system test programs and plans.- Implemented continuous improvement of system hardware, data acquisition systems, and testing procedures.
