Productivity is the national challenge for Australia economy. There was a marked slow-down in productivity growth in Australia between 2003 and 2008. Australia MFP (multi-factor productivity) fell by 1.3 in 2013, which is significantly worse than most of the OECD economies. The Australian Productivity commission has found four industries were primarily responsible for this slow down: mining, agriculture, utilities and manufacturing. Productivity improvements will lead to a real increase in GDP and ensure the high standard of living we currently have continues past the current mining boom. For example, a report from Deloitte indicates that new cost-effective ICT-enabled health services would increase real GDP by $7.5 billion to $8.7 billion annually within a decade (in 08/09 dollars value). The CSIRO Digital Productivity Flagship has been created to address the productivity challenge at three levels, creating value from 1. Increased competitiveness resulting from higher efficiency for current products and services2. Better products, services and performance resulting from novel digital technologies and new processes3. Economic development resulting from new products and services Our research outcomes are directed at enabling industry to be more agile and resilient, and realise the benefits of domestic and export opportunities, with a focus on supporting the creation of a vibrant services economy. We are working to build:• Digital Business and Industries: Achieving new levels of productivity and sustainability across the Australian Economy• Digital Environment/World: Understanding nature and promoting sustainable development • Digital Health: Enhancing Health outcomes to an ageing Australia, delivering better health services
