Freelance Writer, Editor, Researcher And Consultant
CurrentSince September 2013, I have been doing writing, research, editing and media and public-relations consulting. Much of my work over the past year has consisted of writing articles and white papers for Energy Central, an electronic publisher serving the electric-power industry. In addition to that industry, I'm most knowledgeable about the areas I've covered as a business reporter, which include technology, telecommunications, venture capital, energy, defense and nonprofits, but I can get up to speed on anything quickly. I am very familiar with the tech-startup and venture-capital communities in the Philadelphia area and am able to apply my knowledge of tech companies, startups, and venture capital/private equity to other markets as well. I am also capable of coming up with creative copy and concepts, especially if it uses humor.Additionally, I am responsible for promoting and marketing the intellectual property that belongs to the estate of my father, cartoonist and writer Ted Key. He created Hazel, a comic panel about a maid that was made into a prime-time TV show starring Shirley Booth and was the subject of "Hazel: A Musical Maid in America," which ran at the Drury Lane Theatre outside Chicago from April 6 through May 29. He also created the characters that became Peabody and Sherman, the time-traveling dog and his boy, who were featured on the TV show, "Rocky and His Friends." I secured him a creators' credit in the movie "Mr. Peabody & Sherman," which was released by DreamWorks Animation in March 2013, and "The Mr Peabody & Sherman" show, which is being streamed on Netflix. I am finishing editing his memoir, which is slated to be published by BearManor Media.
