Peter is a Programme Management Specialist with 24 years experience in value chain development and market linkages for smallholder farmers. He has partnered with the private, public and NGO sectors to steer the implementation of six agribusiness projects in grains, fruits & vegetables and oil crops. Academically, he has a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management from Moi University, a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from Egerton University, a certificate in Value Chain Development and Market Linkages by Indepth Research Services, and a certificate of participation in the International Research and Development course on Food Security and Grain Storage – Technologies and Management - at CINADCO, State of Israel. Peter is currently working at The United Nations World Food Programme where he has worked for over 10 years as a Programme Policy Officer in the the Smallholder Agricultural Market Market Support programme. Previously, he worked as a Portfolio Manager in the USAID Feed the Future Kenya Innovation Engine where he mentored and coached innovators on inputs distribution, agricultural mechanization, conservation agriculture, aflatoxin management, Index-Based Livestock Insurance, dairy commercialization, access to markets and finance. He earlier worked as a Business Development Services Manager in the USAID/Kenya Business Development Services program where he implemented four Projects resultin in sustained access to business services, increased smallholder farmers’ incomes, and overall value chain growth. Formerly, he worked as an operations manager at Farmers' Own Ltd, a DFID funded project to alleviate poverty and linking farmers to markets in Kenya.
