Mid West Ports Authority manages Geraldton Port, Geraldton’s Fishing Boat Harbour and is preparing to absorb responsibility for the ports of Cape Cuvier and Useless Loop. It has 130 staff and revenue of +$75M.The Authority has a landlord responsibility and as well as managing a substantial lease portfolio, is also responsible for the provision and maintenance of infrastructure including the Geraldton channel and harbour, it’s six main commercial wharves, numerous small boat jetties, a rail terminal and train unloader, roads and communications, power & water distribution services.The organisation also owns and operates two ship-loading circuits providing services to the region’s iron ore, metal concentrate and mineral sands exporters. During my period with the port trade increased by more than 250%, a performance made possible by $1.2B of public, port authority and private sector investment in port and regional transport infrastructure.

In 2001, the Port of Portland was 100% owned by Australian Infrastructure Fund and Utilities Trust Australia, both managed by Hastings Funds Management. The organisation principally supported the import/export requirements of Alcoa's Portland Aluminium operation and the export demand from the region's grain and woodchip exporters. During my tenure we established a logistics solution and commercial proposition to support Iluka Resource's new Western Victorian operation with construction of port storage and shiploading infrastructure. As Business Development Manager I was responsible for setting and driving the company’s marketing and business development strategy. Key responsibilities included: 1. Business development and contract negotiation; 2. Contract management; 3. Strategic planning & implementation; 4. Customer & community relations.

Sheep Producers Australia is a commodity council of the National Farmers' Federation. It is an autonomous, peak industry organisation responsible for representing the interests of Australia’s sheep and lamb producers. Its core role is to provide a focal point for industry to set and from which to implement its political, marketing and research agendas. Working to a Board comprising representatives from seven-member organisations, key responsibilities included: - Board and government relations; - Corporate governance; - Strategic planning; - Industry innovation; - Communications with member organisations and industry;and - Advocacy. In 1998, I was selected among Australia’s top 100 Rural Young Achievers by the Australian Rural Press.
