Peter L. Lee, P.E., S.E., M.ASCE, LEED® API am an Associate Principal and Structural Engineer with the San Francisco office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP. In practice at SOM since 1980, my role is a lead senior project structural engineer for large office, commercial, residential, mixed-use, embassy, airport terminal and university buildings, as well as institutional courthouse, medical and laboratory facilities. Special interests include performance-based earthquake engineering leading to enhanced seismic performance design, adaptive reuse, resilient and sustainable structures.Through project work in the context of SOM’s multi-discipline individual, team and firm approach, I have pursued multiple interests in structural and earthquake engineering while contributing to the profession of structural engineering as an active SEAONC / SEAOC member.My professional career focus has been a demonstrated commitment to pursuing an integrated design practice of architecture and engineering achieving reliable, efficient, innovative and resilient building design. Recent completed projects receiving awards of excellence include the 345 Montgomery adaptive reuse, San Mateo County Office Building COB3, 95 State at City Creek and 111 Main office towers in Salt Lake City, the San Diego Superior Court of California and the San Bernardino Justice Center.
