I'm a project management professional and a Chartered Engineer with over thirty years’ experience of project delivery in the chemical, oil and gas sectors. From 1989 to 2006 I worked in a variety of roles, including Lead C&I Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Engineering Manager and Project Manager. From 2006 to 2018 I held senior positions within a number of organisations, with overall responsibility for the project delivery and engineering teams. Since 2018, I've worked as a self employed consultant, providing project management and expert witness services.My experience encompasses a wide range of projects in both domestic and international locations including green field, brownfield, plant relocation and demolition. As well as managing UK based engineering teams, I've worked with low cost execution centres located overseas.Much of my career has been spent in project front end development. Having led numerous concept and FEED studies, I understand the importance of robust front-end development and in particular, the relationship between engineering definition and estimate accuracy.I've worked in various positions in detailed engineering, both junior and senior and consequently have a thorough understanding of the key success criteria for this critical phase.I've also assisted operators develop contract execution strategies tailored to meet their requirements; considering commercial risk, budget constraints and local capabilities. I have a good understanding of key contractual principles and am familiar with the forms of contract used within the sector. I've led change management on major projects and been party to the resolution of contractual disputes, more recently as an expert witness.
