Management of projects in the space industry for customers including the European Space Agency, European Union and UK Space Agency.

Responsible for undertaking bid, project and programme management across the full lifecycle from opportunity qualification, through design, qualification, delivery and support phases, principally in the area of Directed Energy Technology. Leader of a group of highly skilled and knowledgeable staff based across BAE Systems sites in Bristol and Chelmsford.• Programme and Project Management of defence based research and hardware delivery contracts, with a value in excess of £1.5M per annum, to time, cost and specification.• Bid Management for prospects with a value of up to £4.7M into the MoD, Joint Venture companies and UK & overseas business units within BAE Systems.• Creation of the technology and customer strategies for the group over a 1 – 5 year timeframe• Responsible for performance management of staff, allocating training, mentoring personnel and recruitment of new members into the team.• Meeting existing and prospective customers, in order to understand and capture their requirements and propose solutions which satisfy their needs, but which also have a risk profile that is acceptable to BAE Systems.• Conducting bid reviews, reviewing and approving deliverable technical reports, undertaking safety inspections of our laboratories, allocating suitable resources to projects.

• Design and simulation of high voltage prototype equipment using electromagnetic simulation codes such as CST Studio Suite and IES Electro.• Reporting on project outcomes via deliverable reports, customer presentations, conferences and papers in peer reviewed journals. • Preparation of safety cases and hazard analysis for newly designed deliverable hardware being shipped to US based customers.• Laboratory evaluation of high power RF systems for use in directed energy defence applications. • Preparation of export licence paperwork and other documentation to enable defence equipment to be delivered into the US market.• Secretary for the Directed Energy Weapons Special Interest Group (DEW SIG), part of the MoD EW Tower of Excellence, tasked with formulating UK policy in the directed energy technology area.

• Electromagnetic consultancy for an RF demonstrator programme.• Development of bespoke in-house computational electromagnetics software using C and Fortran for BAE Systems.• Use of bespoke and commercial EM software for antenna design, radar cross-section prediction, modelling of aircraft RF emissions and coupling between wireless networks.

• Development of deliverable software to ISO 9001 quality standards for science and engineering companies.• GUI development using Visual Basic.• Software engineering.
