Biodiversity ApprenticeNature Conservation Jan 2006 - Jan 2007Whilst in the post I was responsible for updating the department's web presence and digitising surveys for the biodiversity records centre. Out of office I worked on designated sites delivering management plans and access works. I worked alongside groups including the archeologically society, education providers and the national trust. I was a minute taker for the local biodiversity action group and was the lead on producing habitat network maps. I wrote and co-ordinated a joint grant project between the local environment centre and planning authority, drawing down £250,000 in grant funding, to be distributed between 18 woodland sites. I carried out local consultations to select sites of value amongst the community. These were then selected to become part of a woodland network.I set up a volunteer project to map the extent of Himalayan Balsam along the waterways of Gower ANOB. I had the benefit working alongside ecologists, education staff and planning officials who guided me through the practicalities of delivering policy at various levels.2006-Onwards Acoustic Festival of Britain Head StewardThe Acoustic Festival of Britain attracts over 10,000 people per day. I manage a group of 60 volunteers, working closely with contractors and artists to ensure the event proceeds smoothly. Over the years I have trained a number of team leaders who take responsibility for specialist teams across the festival. Alongside personnel management I also liaise with police teams and traders to solve issues as they arise.

Whilst in the team I studied countryside legislation and became familiar with best practice methods for working on protected sites.
