I served as a Crown Attorney in my hometown of Hamilton, where I prosecuted criminal trials and hearings related to fraud, breach of trust, sexual assault, property crimes, and guns and gangs.

I volunteered as a supervising lawyer for Pro Bono Students Canada’s Tax Advocacy Program, working with law students from Osgoode Hall and the University of Toronto to help self-represented litigants advocate in the Tax Court of Canada. I worked with Pro Bono Ontario to assist self-represented litigants advocate in the Small Claims Court, and I acted as a Designated Representative for unaccompanied minors in refugee protection hearings at the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. In the mountains of northern British Columbia I learned about the mineral exploration industry while I worked on a diamond drill for a TSX venture corporation based out of Stewart, BC. I gained a firm respect for the men and women that make this difficult trade their way of life.

I served in Hamilton's Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada during my final year of high school and for my years as an undergraduate student at the University of Guelph. I attained the rank of Corporal and received my machine-gun certification that allowed me to serve as the Company machine-gunner. I also fulfilled the role of second-in-command of an eight man section with responsibility for all non-combat tasks.
