Representing employees in grievance, disciplinary and termination matters. Advocacy includes case-development, “Skelly” (pre-deprivation) hearings, and administrative appeals. Handled termination arbitrations for peace officers and firefighters. Serving as general counsel to public safety employee associations in grievance and labor relations matters, including unfair labor practices under the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act (“MMBA”) and Higher Education Employee Employer Relations Act (“HEERA”). Prosecuted a Petition for Writ of Mandamus action in San Joaquin County Superior Court in a four-year unfair bargaining practices scenario for the San Joaquin County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association; the matter settled upon ratification of successor contract. This matter included motions practice in discovery and jurisdictional disputes. Litigation also included a prevailing grievance in San Francisco over Sheriff’s deputies’ overtime and failure of the department to meet and confer over policy-changes.Representing peace officers and firefighters in Procedural Bill of Rights Act litigation. Representing defendants in select criminal defense matters throughout the state, including a felony use-of-force matter. Representing peace officers in critical incidents such as officer-involved-shootings and deaths-in-custody.

Criminal Division - Prosecuted felony criminal offenses in the largest county in the State of Washington, encompassing the City of Seattle and surrounding suburban communities.Handled criminal matters at all stages of litigation including approximately 65 jury trials, primarily felony matters. Lead Deputy Prosecutor for Identity Theft and bank fraud matters from 2012 to 2015, and coordinated with law enforcement to aid and support their investigations. Also prosecuted multi-jurisdiction drug distribution networks, some spanning multiple states, including those requiring financial transaction analysis ("Money Laundering"). Also prosecuted domestic violence, sex offenses, and general felony offenses including Robbery, Burglary, Assault, car theft and embezzlement.Awarded the "Outstanding Trial Advocacy - Criminal Litigation" distinction in 2015 stemming from a multi-county complex Identity Theft conspiracy involving the "skimming" and "cloning" of commercial credit cards.Awarded the United States Secret Service's "Certificate of Appreciation" in 2015 for case development and prosecution of high-impact fraud offenders investigated by this federal law enforcement agency.
