Partnering with refugee, social care, housing & homelessness and rehabilitation charities to deliver truly joyful moments of relaxed social inclusion to brighten people's lives and give them hope. Also getting stuck in helping the the kitchen and welcoming guests :)

Having joined as a shadow Board member, I became a Trustee when Streetdoctors became a charity and then Chair of Trustees. I focused on ensuring the right strategic decisions were made in relation to growth and impact, enabling the amazing medical volunteers to deliver their transformational impact on the lives of young people who have experienced, or are likely to experience, violent crime. Under my Chairship Streetdoctors expanded from working out of 3 medical schools to 18, training thousands of young people how to deliver emergency first aid, while also facilitating important engagement and conversations between young people about violent crime. Developed powerful partnerships within the youth justice system, young offenders institutions, youth organisations and criminal justice reform campaigners.

I firmly established LVSC at the heart of London's voluntary sector, establishing a high reputation for its stakeholder engagement and policy work focused on tackling poverty and inequality, setting up the London Employment & Skills Network and effectively influencing the Mayor and the London Development Agency on behalf of the most disadvantaged Londoners

I headed up the GLA’s work on realising social benefits from the Games leading on the London Employment and Skills Task Force, The London Employer Accord and London Summer of Sport. My leadership helped ensure the £85 million LEST programme delivered training, jobs and sporting opportunities to Londoners. I dealt on a daily basis with Director level contacts across Londonwide bodies, local authorities and government departments.

I developed LCC from a volunteer-reliant campaigning organisation into a powerful and respected campaign, delivery and membership organisation of 9,000 members, 10 staff, 600 volunteers. I initiated a range of innovative projects supported by a mix of individual, trust, statutory and corporate funding.

I structured a comprehensive funding package involving contributions from government, the Lottery, local authorities and partners to deliver over 30 Smartmove rent deposit schemes in England and Wales. I led the development of Crisis's programmes across Scotland and Wales.
