Who is Peter Lorentz and what motivates him? Peter has an abiding passion for science and most particularly how to use the science of agriculture to feed the world and improve environmental outcomes. One of three founding principals and shareholders of Analytical Research Laboratories Ltd (ARL) Napier, New Zealand, Peter brought his skills in analytical chemstry to help farmers realise the potential of their natural capital. A Director of ARL, Peter has played an integral role in strategy, business and technical development. From the early beginnings in 1981, ARL is now New Zealands leading analytical and consulting laboratory devoted to the agricultural sector. Since 2000, ARL has been a fully owned subsidiary of Ravensdown Fertiliser Co-operative and more recently (2014) it has become a business unit within Ravensdown. After 34 years, Peter's time as Technical Director has come to a timely end (retirement) and he has "put himself in another paddock" by reinventing himself as an Agrology Consultant. Peter has launched a consultancy business as a Nutrient Management Adviser certificated to provide Nutrient Budgets and Farm Nutrient Management Plans.Without allowing too much grass to grow after leaving ARL in November 2014, Peter launched his consultancy business under the banner company Lorentz Solutionz Limited trading as Lorentz Agrology.
