About Peter Lucassen

He has coached several top 30, 50, and 100 players, including Gael Monfils (#74), Ryan Harrison (#40) and Steve Johnson (#37). He also guided Ernesto Escobedo from the very beginning in juniors all the way up to #67 ATP. As a junior, Peter held an ITF World Ranking of #36 and competed in the Junior French Open and Wimbledon. He was a multi-year member of the Dutch National Player Development Group and won the Dutch National Junior Singles and Doubles Championship in the Boys 18s and 14s divisions. All his success led him to receive the national and regional Sportsmanship Award recipient from 2003-2005Peter went on to compete on the ATP Tour from 2004 to 2010, achieving a career-high singles ranking of #541. He reached the quarterfinals or better in 42 tournaments across singles and doubles. As he wrapped up his professional career, he competed as a collegiate student-athlete at the University of Southern California. Peter helped secure NCAA Division-I Team Championships in 2010 and 2011 and was named to the All-Tournament Team in 2010. After a successful playing career, he became part of the coaching staff that won two NCAA championship teams in the 2012 season.In Los Angeles, Peter founded Baseline Tennis Academy, building a facility for developing players at all stages of their careers, from junior competitors to elite professionals. The academy stayed in Los Angeles from 2009 to 2020, and since 2020 in the Netherlands.While serving as High-Performance Manager for the Dutch Tennis Federation (KNLTB), he oversaw junior and professional player development and contributed as an assistant coach for Davis and Billie Jean King Cup teams. During his coaching years, he worked as a part-time travel coach for the United States Tennis Association (USTA) from 2016 to 2020, supporting top players on the professional tour. These roles highlight his extensive experience in player development and high-performance coaching, which led him to taking full-time coaching roles with great names of today's professional tour.
