CurrentSince 1983, North Side Housing has been helping homeless men rebuild their lives with stable housing and supportive services in Chicago. We just opened a new a shelter for 70 men in Rogers Park in December 2024 and we provide permanent housing and supportive services (like healthcare) for 160 people. We operate a "walk-in" center, where homeless people can walk in off the street, meet with a case manager, and ask for immediate help.Project Management• As the project manager, I directed and completed a 2-year project, in partnership with the City’s Department of Housing, to convert a building in the Rogers Park neighborhood to a new 70-bed homeless shelter with a budget of $7 million. • Managing the process to keep the project moving forward with two City departments and the work of lawyers, architects, a builder, and a Board sub-committee until the shelter opened in December 2024. Fundraising/Development• Currently manage relationships with foundations and both individual and prospective donors.• Created and managed a Donor Meal Program at our shelter during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, recruiting volunteers and donors to provide meals for 50 homeless clients. We served over 9,000 meals.• Agency spokesperson at shelter tours and public speaking engagements since 2019.People Management• Managed the transition periods after the departures of three Executive Directors (EDs)• Hired and trained three new EDs. Led the search committees ensuring equal participation of senior staff and board members.
