I started my career at Midwest Express as a sheetmetal technician on their DC-9 and MD-80/88 fleet of aircraft. This was my first job as an A&P mechanic. The first day, I changed the #1 cylinder on the #2 engine of their B-17. Not too many people can say that. I had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of antique aircraft and warbirds, but most of my time there was spent restoring Piper Cherokee 140s that were raffled at the annual Fly-Ins each summer. I learned a great deal and enjoyed my experiences there.
