Having worked across quality operations and laboratory technician roles within medical device and medical diagnostics companies, complemented by my frontline administrative experience within a hospital environment, I have seen the importance and direct impact of the medical sector to patients’ lives. Since returning to Ireland from travelling, I am now seeking to further my career by working within the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical sector. During the project I performed many diverse lab tasks including Western blots, viability assays and proteomics. I learned how to perform mass spectrometry analysis and to use software such as STRING and Reactome. I gained insight into working as part of a team and how to learn from others in the lab. I was responsible for the upkeep of the ACHN cells, ensuring that the media was changed regularly and that this media contained the right components.
