Commenced in Sep-2014 as a contract Project Manager (via Hays), and subsequently transitioned into a BHP shirt in Mar-2015.As Superintendent Modifications and Operations Projects, was responsible for a portfolio of new underground infrastructure (compressed air, process water, dewatering, and electrical power) projects at the Olympic Dam mine.Direct reports included six Electrical and Mechanical Project Engineers, two Studies Engineers, and one Engineering Graduate. With the added support of a Project Scheduler and Cost Controller our small team was tasked with delivering the infrastructure necessary for BHP's advance into an exciting new era in underground mining at Olympic Dam. The FY20-FY21 portfolio consisted of over thirty projects, with a total capital value of around $60M.Cost, schedule, and zero harm were key accountabilities, while best practice Project Management, a passion to succeed in a challenging environment, and having a little "professional fun" at work, were also key personal drivers.
Project Manager
Reporting to the CEO, was responsible for managing complex electrical switchroom construction projects. Projects delivered include:* Five HV/LV switchroom modules for MacArthur River power station upgrade;* Sixty HV/LV/Comms switchrooms for Origin's APLNG project (assumed PM role mid way)* Containerised LV switchroom solution for Bing Bong Creek* Ten sub-station battery rooms for SP Ausnet* Three HV power distribution platforms and one LV Switchroom for First Solar, Nyngan........plus others.Was responsible for driving very tight schedules and budgets throughout all projects, including seeking cost optimisation and productivity opportunities wherever possible, and driving a "safety first" culture amongst employees and sub-contractors.Maintained open, "no surprises", communications with all clients, while at the same time ensuring Mayfield's commercial position was not open to compromise.

Reporting to the SA/NT Regional Project Services Manager, was responsible for the management of complex electrical projects within the mining sector. Projects delivered included five LV transportable switchrooms, complete with Schneider MCC and VSD equipment; four turn-key solutions to BHP Billiton's Olympic Dam site, and one delivery only to Phu Bia Mining's Phu Kham site, Laos.As Project Manager, duties included:• Development and planning of project performance baselines, including work progress milestones, financial budgets, and schedules for project deliverables;• Measurement and reporting of progress against baselines, identifying performance variations, and developing corrective action plans where required;• Direct supervision, support, and mentoring of Project Engineers and support staff;• Worked with Project Engineers to resolve complex project problems, usually involving multiple stakeholders and/or sub-contractors;• Ultimately responsible for all project decisions, and also for successful project completion against scope of work, schedule, and budget;• Ensured projects were carried out safely by personally developing a project specific HSEC Management Plan and then taking ownership once agreed by all stakeholders;• Led the development of Project specific Risk Registers, identifying risk mitigation strategies where applicable, and then coordinating regular reviews to ensure actions were delivered, and the Registers maintained;• Coordinated and chaired weekly project progress meetings with clients and key stakeholders;• Regularly met with sub-contractors and suppliers to review progress against baseline and work through project issues;• Identified strategies for achieving schedule, quality and budget gains;• Personally attended sub-contractor Factory Acceptance Testing to ensure project equipment was delivered as per scope, and was thoroughly performance tested prior to despatch from the manufacturing facility.

Reporting to the Department Manager, was responsible for the complete, multidisciplinary engineering activities within the converting department of this large paper manufacturing facility, including all maintenance, process development, and capital project activities.
