After retiring from West Yorkshire Fire Service in 2012, I ran my own small business for 10 years "Bespoke Door Canopies" Designing and building, made to measure wooden door canopies and leaded door surround kits. Made here in Leeds and delivered around the UK.My time now is taken up making smaller Handcrafted wood products for the home. Based at Fire Stations around the City of Leeds, throughout my 25 year career. I have over 20 years experience as a Crew Manager on watch, managing staff, instructing on the operational requirements of dealing with hazardous materials at incidents, station admin workloads and working in various emergency roles throughout my career. Helping to provide the full range of emergency response & rescue services, to the people of West Yorkshire. A very rewarding career.

During my service, I learned some very important life skills, worked with some great people and made some lifelong friends. Throughout my time in the forces, I worked in a groundcrew role for 659 Sqn, 4 Regiment Army Air Corps in Detmold, West Germany (as was). Involved in the groundhandling/refuelling of various Army helicopters and a little playing at soldiers too (:-). I had some great adventures along the way and enjoyed every minute (well almost).... I hope to meet some of those friends again.
