As the Head of Youth at Belfast YMCA, I oversee a dynamic range of programmes designed to empower young people throughout our city. Our work includes:Ubuntu: Our flagship Good Relations project, where we partner with 850 young people across six post-primary schools to explore themes of religious and ethnic diversity.Youth in Government: A political education initiative that engages 30 young people each year in critical discussions on topics such as climate change, justice, reconciliation, fact-checking, and activism.Youth Club: We’ve launched a new youth club in South Belfast, welcoming around 30 young people each week. Our offerings include a drop-in service, small group personal development through Youth Café, and dedicated support for young women and girls.Peace Plus Empower to Transform (E2T): This program provides intensive support and training for cohorts of young people, helping them to collaborate and develop valuable skills.And much more! 😂As a member of the senior leadership team at Belfast YMCA, I am actively involved in strategy and growth initiatives. I collaborate closely with colleagues across the YMCA movement and the broader youth work sector to identify opportunities for partnership and mutual learning. With years of experience in youth work, I am deeply passionate about creating enjoyable experiences that empower young people, broaden their perspectives, and build their confidence.
