Peter Moffatt currently serves as HomeSkor’s President. For the past 18 years, Peter has served as President and a director of Building Insight, a building science company under license by the federal government that delivered over 150,000 EnerGuide-certified energy audits to owners of single-family homes in Canada (detached, duplex, row, mobile).Peter has more than three decades of experience as an entrepreneur, business manager, researcher, consultant, building scientist and technical expert in houses and energy efficiency. Early in his career, Peter established himself as one of Canada’s leading building scientists. As a researcher, Peter performed studies on the health, comfort, safety and energy performance of Canadian houses for the research division of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and Natural Resources Canada. As a consultant, Peter helped design residential energy conservation programs for Canadian energy utilities including BC Hydro, Ontario Hydro, Consumers Gas (now Enbridge Gas Distribution), and BC’s largest gas utility (now FortisBC). Over the years, Peter’s companies have provided energy audit software and/or web services to BC Hydro Power Smart, Manitoba Hydro, the federal government and Consumers Gas. Peter was involved with the development of the federal government’s original EnerGuide Rating System for houses. Peter was also involved in a Standards Council of Canada based process to update the EnerGuide Rating System for houses. Peter sat on the Information Subcommittee and authored one of the four foundation papers.As entrepreneur and business manager, Peter oversaw the recruiting, training and management of more than 100 community-based energy advisors who performed more than 150,000 EnerGuide-certified energy audits from BC through Ontario.
