Peter Moran Email and Phone Number
I am an evolutionary biologist interested in understanding how organisms adapt to rapid environmental change both on the phenotypic and genomic level. I am particularly interested in the impact of urbanisation on sexual selection and the interplay between adaptive and non-adaptive processes. I have a strong foundation in evolutionary theory and a high proficiency in data analysis and bioinformatics. I work with and perform statistical analyses on large datasets, including whole genome sequencing, using various software tools and programming languages. I also collaborate with and support other researchers in developing, implementing, and troubleshooting analytical methods and pipelines. I am always eager to learn new skills and techniques, and to share my knowledge and insights with others.

Postdoctoral ResearcherVrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Vu Amsterdam) Jul 2020 - PresentAmsterdam, North Holland, NetherlandsAs the lead postdoctoral researcher on an ERC-funded project, I spearheaded the genomic analysis examining the impact of urbanisation on the Neotropical túngara frog. Using whole genome sequencing and computational tools, I am examining the impact of urbanisation on both demography and population structure, while also identifying genes that facilitate urban adaptation. -

Postdoctoral ResearcherUniversity College Cork Dec 2017 - Jun 2020Cork, County Cork, IrelandPostdoctoral researcher on an ERC-funded project investigating the genomic basis of alternative migratory tactics in brown trout (Salmo trutta). I led the experimental design, data collection, and analysis of whole-genome sequencing data obtained from over 200 wild-caught brown trout across various rivers along the west coast of Ireland. -
