Hounslow Council needed someone to lead and manage its Communications team during a period when it was without a permanent post holder. As the Council is engaged in massive organisational change the challenge involved doing much more than simply keeping things ticking along.I strengthened the corporate narrative and improved the communication of key corporate messages, progressed the development of a public affairs strategy, developed social media guidelines, led on the content management strategy for a completely new website, secured agreement to major changes to the residents' magazine, and advised on the introduction of far more comprehensive income generation from advertising, filming and sponsorship.

In response to criticism by Ofsted for the level of its educational attainment Suffolk mounted a major programme with the ambitious objective of ensuring every child in the county can achieve their full potential. In order to be successful this required the active support of multiple stakeholders.My interim assignment was to lead the development and implementation of comprehensive communications and engagement activity to support the effectiveness of a multiplicity of improvement initiatives, and to build the profile and reputation of Suffolk as a centre of education excellence.

The circuit hosts a multiplicity of World and British championships for racing cars, GT cars, Touring cars, Moto GP bikes and SuperBikes. Offering opportunities to get behind the wheel as well as watch, it also has a major driving "experience" operation.I led and directed a comprehensive in-house communications and marketing team, and managed a wide range of consultancies and agencies. I utilised a £2m budget to generate record visitor numbers and over £20m income. Reporting to the Chief Executive I played a lead role in major event organisation including liaison with international motorsport governing bodies and national government.Acting as the spokesperson for the circuit I handled a high volume of interviews by TV, radio, print and online media.
