Accountable for the non-clinical safety of the AstraZeneca R&D portfolio

Leader of a multidisciplinary discovery-focused Drug Safety & Metabolism department accountable for de-risking the safety dimension of the AstraZeneca Innovative Medicines (iMED) discovery portfolio. Discovery Safety comprises approximately 50 scientists with expertise in discovery toxicology, computational safety, genetic toxicology and secondary pharmacology and is tasked with delivery of in silico, in vitro and in vivo data for target and chemical risk assessments to help discovery project teams design and select molecules with the “Right Safety” profile.
